Italy and France

here's a closer look at the interior of the colloseum..i still can't spell the name..in the past, the circular area is the basement of the fighting arena. animals like lions and elephants are kept down there and kept in the dark and starved, so that they will be hunger, fierce and desperate enough to fight the gladiators and give the audience a good (and extremely bloody) show

in rome especially, which is surrounded byunderground springs, there are fountains everywhere and we fill our bottles from these springs. the water is usually cold and definitely drinkable. here i am desperately trying to quench my thirst at one of the fountains in the vatican city.

ok, i forced xuelun to do this. since i am too short to do this picture, i insisted that someone EAT the buildings on my behalf.

basically, what we did in florence is shown above. yes, we queue..and queue..because the interesting stuff are mostly museums which housed famous art works like the sculptures of david(esp. the 1 by michaelangelo the ARTIST, not ninja turtle). Can you spot us in the queue?

everywhere we go, we see david (from the legend/myth david vs. goliath)..in museums, on a hill, by the sea and in a square..the original and most famous one is by mchaelangelo is at the top right corner.

France - Avignon

this is our hostel room in a campsite. we managed to make it look like a bangla campsite thanks to our clothes hanging ALL over..and i managed to get up the top bunk!

hmm..i THINK its a palace (??) in Avignon..hmm i really CANNOT recall what its called, but it was where the pope fled to when they were ousted from italy, and they set up a mini vatican in Avignon. Of coz when christianity was made legal again the palpacy returned to italy.

the exterior..and yes, the wind in avignon is SO strong..

not too sure why this guy is still here
(think he's one of the swiss guards) though the pope has set up his seat in italy since duno when..but hey! he's such a nice guy and is willing to pose for a pic with anyone who asks! he truly reminds me of...puss in boots. don't u think so?

once again, i cannot recall the name, but this is a bridge which is only built halfway, and does not reach the banks on the other side. this photo is a gem because the wind was unbelievable STRONG and somehow i was lucky to get this shot in which i don't look like a crazy fool.

France - Nice & Marseilles

beautiful beaches of nice, where the sea is made up of numerous shades of blue! and yes, my photography skills did NOT do the beach any justice. if you're lucky, u may just catch people who were doing some nude sunbathing

the flower market in nice where you can find not only fresh and beautiful flowers (which the imports we get in singapore cannot hold a finger to..), you can also find fresh produce like fruits, vegetables, cheeses, homemade candles and JAM!!!

delicious gelato! and yes, not only is it delicious, there are also at least 40 flavours to choose from! from lavender, to avocado, to crunch and typical fruit and chocolatey flavours.

marseilles, a port city in france. and apparently from this photo, its also a city where the rich park their yatchts..

waiting for our entree to arrive, we dig into the basket of bread! somehow, bread tastes better on another continent..

Italy - Florence

on top of the hill which resided the REAL David sculpture, with some swedish friends.

do you know that the churches in italy are pretty strict? so if you're in sleeveless tops or bottoms which are too short, you cannot enter. therefore...
viola! we swap clothings! with my jacket covering xl's arms and her wrap as a pseudo skirt, we proudly strolled into the church!

touching the snout of the pig would supposedly bring good luck!

on the overnight train from italy to france!

Italy - Rome

Day one in Europe. Doesn't this look like an ad for spectacles?

yummy! this is our very first decent (meaning, we get to sit down) meal in Europe! and yes, it tastes as GOOD as it looks. slurpz..

this is the famed coloseum (erm..sorry, can't recall the spelling).

and one of my favourite photos. most of the time, i look like crap. heh..and i love arches! this is one of the arches IN the coloseum.

hey kids...i'm back..
haha actually, i've been back for a week..but don't know what's wrong, just felt very off, very misplaced since i'm back..had jet lag for about 2 days..just slept and slept..and slept..haha..yesterday just forced the dentist to remove 2 uper wisdom teeth..he was shocked..he was like "huh you want to remove both together arh? may take some time le..scared you cannot take it" and i don't know what possessed me..i just insisted..but heng! it was pretty chop! and though i can absolutely feel the entire process (i.e. the pulling, shaking and the entire tooth and its root being pulled out of my gums..oh and also the feel of the injectionSSs on my gums..) i was pretty glad it was done! now can concentrate on other stuff...like driving..

wed i went clubbing with the same old people..yes, we can only rely on each other..and i would say 3 is optimal..2 is too small a grp and get bullied easily..and 4 is like too many..anyway, the usual shitty stuff happens, but we had some fun...some parts of it la...but its probably the last chance we can enjoy ladies night on wed..when we start work, how can!!! anyways, we left early and angeline stayed over...and we TALK and TALK and TALK..ALOT..haha about everything and about our travels and stuff..though i was freaking tired, and i'm sure she was since she fell asleep in 3 seconds..we managed to chat until 6am..which reminds of 2 years ago when we were in havoc and we would just chat till morning and take the first bus/train home..yes, despite the dirty hostel room which i REFUSED to clean up, we had a great time..bonding in a shit hole..haha..yes, it feels good to chat all night with a good friend, sharing your thoughts, the fun you have and laughing at stuff which somebody else wouldn't find funny! yes, we realised that some jokes CANNOT be shared, coz others wouldn't see the humour of it.. speaking of humour, i realised that people around me, especially my close friends, have good sense of humour. I guess that's what i am attracted to..when i "look" for friends, i am usually attracted to funny people..those whom i can laugh alot with! i think you people know who you are? but then if you're not, u are just being bhb u know? hahaha!!! confused and conflicted now?!?!?! GOOD! hahaha...

actually, i really don't feel like blogging...quite lazy to organise my thoughts and put them down to words...i feel that i SHOULD be telling about the one month in europe, but there's too much and i really don't know what to write and stuff...ok, the bottomline is, i am LAZY. haha..ok mayb one day when the weather is nice and cool and not rainy then i will post the photos and let the picture tell the story ok? (we all know that theres no such thing as nice and cool weather in singapore right? hahaha)...yup, i do hope that my blog can be seen..somehow when i go to the page, i can only see the tag board...

ps. i realised i have become a convert in terms of food when i come back. now i love bread, jam and yoghurt! and i am really NOT craving for ban mian!!! and local food is so oily, it made me lao sai....hmmm...
