my excuses for not updating the blog
internet connection sucks.
i suspect someone is tapping on the wireless, or..my brother managed to do something evil which prevents me from utilising the internet fully while he's far far away in a wester camp..but i think the first reason is more probable..and being an IT idiot (halo!) i can't do anything to confirm and prevent it..
excuse #2
very busy life.
haha going out everyday till late, so by the time i am home, i just wanna bath and sleep IMMEDIATELY..in fact, has been procrastinating the packing of my room which is actually a pigsty disguised as a room, and trying to forget that i have an 8 hour (or so they claimed, but i suspect its longer than 8 hours) course to complete before monday 6am..
well, not that i am very popular or that my loyal supporters have time to read my blog because i HAVE been meeting THEM so they probably wont need to read the blog to find out what happened..
an update of my current mood: SIAN. really don't feel like starting work. its not so much the fear of being in an entirely new and ADULT environment and that any screw ups may cost me ALOT..its like the beginning of the end. now, work has already sucked up the time of friends around me such that meeting up is tough. imagine how tedious it will be to plan and COORDINATE an outing which i can appear at. i have been telling everyone around me that soon, they will only see me at night for the rest of my life. and i truly believe that! given everything which people have been saying about the life of an auditor. or lack of it rather. what have i got myself into?
well, of happier times..
thurs:
met the gang (the 4 scholars of jiangnan, roomie and jiali) for movie and dinner. superman is CUTE! and i diedie want to find a screen shot of lois lane dress and find a tailor to make for ME. its gorgeous..pls watch the movie and tel me where i can purchase it! went for steamboat buffet dinner. as usual, end up bloated, thanks to the pot of soup i drank. and after that, we actually ate DESSERT. that just tells of how impressive the human stomach is. even though it is filled, it can still expand to make space for MORE. anyway the ginger milk thingy is pretty nice! if u like ginger..
fri:
saw chingyan and freddie at dental! apparently, that is the de facto dentist to go to for hall fivers..haha..kellypok intro me, then sihui also happened to go there.plus me and chingyan and god knows who else..after dental, met my buddy to EAT. haha we really ordered alot! and spent only 17bucks in total! we each ate 1 udon, 1 handroll, 1 green tea, 1 chawanmushi and 1 piece of unagi sushi (eels are disgusting. but i eat it once in a blue moon..nice but disgusting!)..then we shared a big piece of teriyaki salmon (yum!), 2 desserts (half untouched coz the food level has reached just below our throats..)..thinking about it makes me feel very full now. so after that to digest our fOOD, we went shopping at bugis market!! omg! we saw cheap shoes! 2 pairs for 20 bucks! haha so we each bought one..i think mine is kinda too tight...damn...and the pair i truly like has run out of small sizes..darn..but well, 10 bucks le! die die must buy right? though i AM dying of poverty..i owe abel 3 bucks, jon 4 bucks and rx 2 bucks..remind me pls..

Italy and France
here's a closer look at the interior of the colloseum..i still can't spell the name..in the past, the circular area is the basement of the fighting arena. animals like lions and elephants are kept down there and kept in the dark and starved, so that they will be hunger, fierce and desperate enough to fight the gladiators and give the audience a good (and extremely bloody) show
in rome especially, which is surrounded byunderground springs, there are fountains everywhere and we fill our bottles from these springs. the water is usually cold and definitely drinkable. here i am desperately trying to quench my thirst at one of the fountains in the vatican city.
ok, i forced xuelun to do this. since i am too short to do this picture, i insisted that someone EAT the buildings on my behalf.
basically, what we did in florence is shown above. yes, we queue..and queue..because the interesting stuff are mostly museums which housed famous art works like the sculptures of david(esp. the 1 by michaelangelo the ARTIST, not ninja turtle). Can you spot us in the queue?
France - Avignon
this is our hostel room in a campsite. we managed to make it look like a bangla campsite thanks to our clothes hanging ALL over..and i managed to get up the top bunk!
hmm..i THINK its a palace (??) in Avignon..hmm i really CANNOT recall what its called, but it was where the pope fled to when they were ousted from italy, and they set up a mini vatican in Avignon. Of coz when christianity was made legal again the palpacy returned to italy.
the exterior..and yes, the wind in avignon is SO strong..
not too sure why this guy is still here
(think he's one of the swiss guards) though the pope has set up his seat in italy since duno when..but hey! he's such a nice guy and is willing to pose for a pic with anyone who asks! he truly reminds me of...puss in boots. don't u think so?

once again, i cannot recall the name, but this is a bridge which is only built halfway, and does not reach the banks on the other side. this photo is a gem because the wind was unbelievable STRONG and somehow i was lucky to get this shot in which i don't look like a crazy fool.

France - Nice & Marseilles
beautiful beaches of nice, where the sea is made up of numerous shades of blue! and yes, my photography skills did NOT do the beach any justice. if you're lucky, u may just catch people who were doing some nude sunbathing
the flower market in nice where you can find not only fresh and beautiful flowers (which the imports we get in singapore cannot hold a finger to..), you can also find fresh produce like fruits, vegetables, cheeses, homemade candles and JAM!!!
delicious gelato! and yes, not only is it delicious, there are also at least 40 flavours to choose from! from lavender, to avocado, to crunch and typical fruit and chocolatey flavours.

marseilles, a port city in france. and apparently from this photo, its also a city where the rich park their yatchts..

waiting for our entree to arrive, we dig into the basket of bread! somehow, bread tastes better on another continent..

Italy - Florence
on top of the hill which resided the REAL David sculpture, with some swedish friends.
do you know that the churches in italy are pretty strict? so if you're in sleeveless tops or bottoms which are too short, you cannot enter. therefore...
viola! we swap clothings! with my jacket covering xl's arms and her wrap as a pseudo skirt, we proudly strolled into the church!
touching the snout of the pig would supposedly bring good luck!
on the overnight train from italy to france!
Italy - Rome
Day one in Europe. Doesn't this look like an ad for spectacles?
yummy! this is our very first decent (meaning, we get to sit down) meal in Europe! and yes, it tastes as GOOD as it looks. slurpz..
this is the famed coloseum (erm..sorry, can't recall the spelling).
and one of my favourite photos. most of the time, i look like crap. heh..and i love arches! this is one of the arches IN the coloseum.
haha actually, i've been back for a week..but don't know what's wrong, just felt very off, very misplaced since i'm back..had jet lag for about 2 days..just slept and slept..and slept..haha..yesterday just forced the dentist to remove 2 uper wisdom teeth..he was shocked..he was like "huh you want to remove both together arh? may take some time le..scared you cannot take it" and i don't know what possessed me..i just insisted..but heng! it was pretty chop! and though i can absolutely feel the entire process (i.e. the pulling, shaking and the entire tooth and its root being pulled out of my gums..oh and also the feel of the injectionSSs on my gums..) i was pretty glad it was done! now can concentrate on other stuff...like driving..
wed i went clubbing with the same old people..yes, we can only rely on each other..and i would say 3 is optimal..2 is too small a grp and get bullied easily..and 4 is like too many..anyway, the usual shitty stuff happens, but we had some fun...some parts of it la...but its probably the last chance we can enjoy ladies night on wed..when we start work, how can!!! anyways, we left early and angeline stayed over...and we TALK and TALK and TALK..ALOT..haha about everything and about our travels and stuff..though i was freaking tired, and i'm sure she was since she fell asleep in 3 seconds..we managed to chat until 6am..which reminds of 2 years ago when we were in havoc and we would just chat till morning and take the first bus/train home..yes, despite the dirty hostel room which i REFUSED to clean up, we had a great time..bonding in a shit hole..haha..yes, it feels good to chat all night with a good friend, sharing your thoughts, the fun you have and laughing at stuff which somebody else wouldn't find funny! yes, we realised that some jokes CANNOT be shared, coz others wouldn't see the humour of it.. speaking of humour, i realised that people around me, especially my close friends, have good sense of humour. I guess that's what i am attracted to..when i "look" for friends, i am usually attracted to funny people..those whom i can laugh alot with! i think you people know who you are? but then if you're not, u are just being bhb u know? hahaha!!! confused and conflicted now?!?!?! GOOD! hahaha...
actually, i really don't feel like blogging...quite lazy to organise my thoughts and put them down to words...i feel that i SHOULD be telling about the one month in europe, but there's too much and i really don't know what to write and stuff...ok, the bottomline is, i am LAZY. haha..ok mayb one day when the weather is nice and cool and not rainy then i will post the photos and let the picture tell the story ok? (we all know that theres no such thing as nice and cool weather in singapore right? hahaha)...yup, i do hope that my blog can be seen..somehow when i go to the page, i can only see the tag board...
ps. i realised i have become a convert in terms of food when i come back. now i love bread, jam and yoghurt! and i am really NOT craving for ban mian!!! and local food is so oily, it made me lao sai....hmmm...

i apologise for "abandoning" this usually boring blog, which somehow satisfies some people's thirst for gossips and stories..haha..been busy with school. yes. final year, but how come i seem to be the only one who has no life? (think coz i am SLOW..) been pia-ing fyp, after which i pia quizzes, followed by examinations..now, finally free, but i am leaving for europe tmr..its a dream come true, but i too worry..robbers..rapists..anyway, please visit the group travel blog: ticketforfour.blogspot.com (i think thats the link..) for updates during the trip..erm..hope i have opportunity to update though..
i must say..i am really glad to be missed by my platoon-mates..and i am kinda sad i missed out alot. apparently, lots have happened, and i STILL duno half of it..and i am also sad i didn't get to help my friend through a difficult time..also kinda sad that i didn't know about it..well, unfortunately, this will go on for about 1 month plus..too bad for me..haa..
alright..its 4am..please bless me for my trip..and for those going on trips too, take care, and have fun!!!

6 LZBs: the 2 hans, audrua and qian lu, hou and i, hop onto han's car and headed to holland v for dinner at 9pm plus! by then we were all starving..but the wait was worth it! we settled down at crystal jade la mian xiao long bao restaurant!! waa..by then we were super hungry and ordered quickly. surprisingly, the restaurant wass till packed at that hour. audrua and i ordered fried rice and chicken soup la mian to share...we also ordered some xiao long bao and other food to share..i guess its the FEELING again..haha the LZB-bonding feeling, and the fact that we were famished that made the dinner especially enjoyable. later on, we went to eat famous selegie tau hway..audrua insisted we blast 91.3fm and pretend to be very hip ah lians...anyway, don't understand WHY they still have space for that. i only drank soya milk. then we saw pam with a super duper cutie..we were all drooling lo..actually...still drooling now..*slurp slurp*
after we're done stuffing ourselves, we embark on the journey back to hall. on the way i guess we kind of went crazy. no correction, qianlu went crazy. she insisted we sing the last verse:" you say it best...when you say nothing at all....." ok that was kinda corny, but it was fun..coz we were all girls who were sitting on the same shelf..oops..i mean staying in the same block..nevertheless, we all agree that it was a great way to spend v day: with your girl friends..
"seniors ma.."
was all he said. and at that point it does struck me. somehow senior do hold a certain power, whereby we dare to do whatever we like, can openly dislike anyone we like. gone were the days where we see a senior and had to force an unwilling smile. now we were the seniors instead. and in that, it is the reverse situation. how odd it feels, yet how good it feels.
back to the camaraderie. we all truly enjoyed ourselves during any outings and events we hold for ourselves. whether is it JB trip, steamboat or even a simple movie date. we occupy at least half a row of the cinema, we laugh the loudest, we laugh at each other crying at touching scenes (I Not Stupid 2. Great movie! Must watch if you are Singaporean. The message rocks you to the core.), mocking those who had red noses, bought supper..somehow simple events can serve as great memories. when i leave behind my Uni life to step out into the adult world, i will look back and savour those memories of the LZBs and how we truly enjoyed ourselves doing simple things at a simple time of our lives.
ps. i got an A for 304 presentation! first time in my life! so happy i must show it off here.

Came back hall early this morning to get some work done, but i keep hearing irritating squeeking noises, which i was hoping are made by the birds and not by lizards..
then somebody was hovering at my door and i open to see a leaflet from hall office
i quote
"We suspect that there is a rat/mouse running loose at level 4. As for hygiene purposes......"
what the ****
now every noise i hear makes me scared, and i can no longer sleep in blissful peace.
THANKS man.

0815-1045
Woke up and got force myself into the shower and then had breakfast with dad and bro at a famous and absolutely delicious prawn mee stall at kallang area. Its been a long time since we last had breakfast together and somehow it felt very good to relieve a pastime of childhood. reminds me of the time we go genting or malaysia or overseas we'll always have breakfast at the now gone market at Gardens. same as always over the meal we'll have discussions and disagreements. I insisted that my dad should cut down his coffee intake and my bro insist that its not harmful at all. not harmful doesn't mean can drink 4 cups a day right? disgusting boy.
1050-1800
went to buy Mac coffee and nua outside Clementi mac awaiting arrival of my 2 fyp mates yan and ah ju. was super duper tired and somehow after the very bitter coffee, i felt refreshed, while yan still remain...tired..haha..had some discussion then we head to NUS central library to steal their resources. managed to meet a few familiar faces, firstly is William my Angel(as in angel mortal game..), then Kim slap me on the back very hard in the library..and then lao B. after vomitting blood using the lousy photocopiers and commiting suicide by printing lots of readings for OURSELVES to read, we can finally have lunch. at 4pm. since we cant find the famous arts canteen(lao B's directions were great.pui.)we ate at this cafe called gecko. ok la..cheap lo..but the brownie was grEEEaaAAt! so we talk about our project further before i force them to head to science block to see my buddy's booth. i juz wanted to see see la..and hoping to entice yan and ah ju to buy...but we were real tired and only stayed for 10min..sorry buddy..in all, we spent about 6 hours at NUS.
2130-0300
met the girls at dbl o for some FREE drinks. not bad..tried carlsberg..q ok la, for those who dont really take beer. somehow it tastes much better than tequila. since ms wong managed to jio j and c, we pia to zouk to meet them and checked out phuture. once j heard the R&B music, he made a fantastic comment: "huh R&B arh? wa lan eh..." i guess its really not his generation's music sia..cukture shocked? haha after exploring, j treat us to sex on beach and kamikaze..not bad!q like sex on beach..guess coz got cranberry? of coz we chopchop pia down to dance floor which was q filled. duno whats wrong with the dj,music like q..sian?the girls went to pee and we secretly head to phuture. omg! its so shuai! oops..i mean its fun..the music is good to dance to and the guys are cuteR.sorry..(kinda dislike those mambosexuals..guys and girls hai..sometimes they dance on platform look so sian, like got people force them like that. halo! u think you r cool? who force u? how come look like u on duty like tat. we can dance on our own thank you very much.)but we are loyal girls so after experiencing 5 min of seasickness(yes, its so packed at phuture tat when people move, u'd better dance. else u will get seasick)we went back to our tall dark and handsome(it was dark, they are tall, and guys at phuture are handsome) friends.however, they gotta leave soon so the 3 girls head to PHUTURE! yay! cute guys! oops..i mean yay! R&B!
we were enjoying ourselves when we realized we were "surrounded" by a group of guys and 1 girl. they were q nice and suggest we dance together coz v packed. the girl asked our age and told her she's 20. we all wanted to die on the spot. how ancient can one feel? it was kinda weird coz 1 of the guys suddenly told ms wong that they juz wanna dance...uh-huh?if not dance then wad?we all scratch heads.
according to ms wong, a guy tried to dance with me.somehow i have no idea? i did notice him in his white blazer..hanging around us..and thought he's kinda cute..for about 10min..somehow see long le den......like tat lo..haha..so i am v v blur actually?i dont sense whats happening around me, though i can "protect" my friends? hmm...thank god for my kakis man..
as usual, i was discreetly bio-ing cute guys. was staring at this guy with the ah-mao hair..u know kinda long 1 then the fringe cover forehead? then i was thinking to myself "ëh how come recently this hair so popular huh?"(i remembered last time we went zouk, i noticed and laughing inside at a guy with that hair and realised its ben yeo) then the guy looked at me then i realized.."Eh..its ben yeo..AGAIN!" and its chen hanwei and a whole group of..friends AGAIN. and AGAIN, they dancing next to us, and AGAIN, ms wong got very excited.
after dancing for very long, we realised that 3 has become 4. somehow we have acquired another member in our group. a guy who is my height. yes..and managed to dance near us for very long, wherever we go. however, he couldnt sum up any guts to approach ms wong(assuming he is interested in her la)and left..she would have given him her number..too bad boy.
in all, the clubbing is a success for us girls. we had great fun, mainly at phuture. however gian we are..we shall REST and be good students..and then the 3 of us can come together and play again during recess (our recess..so by then ms chong start school le? but still..must come k. we're each other's bf le..)

initially...
is it true that as people grow older, they tend to be less excited about their birthdays? increasingly, it seems to be just another day, rather than a day of significance. could it be the maturing of the state of mind, the increasing level of skeptism and decreasing ability to be excited about something or perhaps, the lack of want to emphasize the advancement of age? the lack of excitement about my bithday is reinforce by my indifference to whether there is cake, and my reaction to my mum when she ask me what i want for present, and my reply is simply, actually, no need anything. so different the reply is, compared to 2 years ago, where i will jump at the chance to ask for something exciting, and maybe even fantasize about the flavour of my birthday cake. perhaps because it reminds me that i am no longer a child. the difference between 21 and 22 is not just 1..being 21 gives you an excuse to be childish, to lapse from occasional irresponsibility, as its just the onset of adulthood. however, being 22 is entirely different. no longer is any excuse valid, no longer will people condone anything less than maturity.
however, there is an element of contradiction in my way of thinking. however indifferent i am to the actual birthday, i am still disappointed when no friends ask me out to celebrate my birthday.
on approaching the actual day...
i began to look forward as it also signifies the coming of the weekend. somehow i managed to work up an enthusiasm when ange invited me out..then another group asked me out for a little celebration...and lunz asked me out on monday..my dad also promised to treat the family to something good. i took the opportunity to suggest eating at a restaurant my mom was dying to eat. however, i was suddenly "un-invited" for my birthday celebration..and i was not even informed about it..somehow after that i became very disappointed..felt unimportant..insignificant..so i decided to take initiative and invited people out to celebrate my own birthday (sound desperate..but i guess i really felt so?)..heng they decided not to be zhong se qing you for once and agreed to go shopping with me..
wednesday..
its mambo night, and ladies night at dbl o..and being the greedy girls we are, we went dbl o to drink ourselves silly before heading to zouk..i guess my stomach was q empty, so i was kinda tipsy and couldnt stop laughing even before exiting dbl o..zouk was like a ghost town though it was already close to midnight and only 2 very loyal mambo fans were on the dance floor. there was virtually no queue and we got in pretty quick. i THINK. i was reallyreally walking funny by then..however we HAD to work off the alcohol and got on the dance floor. halfway through it became q packed adn we began to have loads of fun. the music was really enjoyable and we dance like crazy. to xue, the high point of the night was seeing chen hanwei i guess. somehow shes super excited..
friday..
went shopping with xue and yan..then jon and colin asked me out for dinner and drinks! make me so happy..at least some friends care? however i had a super big headache abd irritable temper, thanks to the low mood and the effects of the alcohol really added to that and magnified it 10 times. but still, it was an enjoyable evening for me, coz i felt like i have friends and that they made an effort for me.
saturday..
ange invited us to the motorola black show(some fashion show) and though we're entitled to a drink each, ange and i were like drinking drop by drop. somehow felt real turn off by the alcohol. so in the end CJ zuan dao..he had 3 housepours. i received my first and second tangible present. was surprised that my birthday wishlist was really heeded, so i happily accepted my gwen stefani album (not pirated 1 k) and the perfume from jw(who, as you can see, is pretty rich now). the show was a disappointment as its kinda boring and overly crowded at DXO. so we headed for supper instead. the highlight of the night was the supper and i really had a great time chatting to my fellow log o and welfare..its been a long time since we last chatted..though we mostly talked about non-sensical stuff..as usual jw is quiet but will suddenly bomb u with some shocking statement..cj ask alot of hypothetical questions, angeline laugh alot, and i, as usual, am a mean girl who judge and poke fun at others..
sunday..
dad brought us to the thai sharksfin restaurant. the last time we went was a many years ago to celebrate my late grandma's birthday. he really went all out to show his generosity and we had a super duper filling and luxirious meal. it was a rare treat indeed, as we dont often eat such stuff. we had sharksfin, abalone rice, my fave prawn tanghoon, fish and veggies with scallop. i guess coz my bro was back from camp and my parents were in a particularly good mood, and even chatted with the waitresses!
monday..
my date with lun zi was a satisfied and fruitful 1. we had jap food and managed to draft a plan to take over the world, starting from europe. after studying the map we decided that we will focus on italy, france and germany on our backpacking trip. then we headed to shop at taka and wisma and i managed to buy ALL my CNY clothes within 4 hours. and out of the 5 items, 4 are SALE items le!!! so excited..haha..and manymany thanks for the gift you gave..i know how u love giving me fragrances..and i know how it has definitely cause a dent in your pockets!
in all, i had 4 days of celebration for my birthday, contrary to how i felt initially..felt blessed that i have friends around me who bother to remember, who bother to ask me out, and family who's not entirely perfect, but the only one i ever want to have. a special mention is that an old friend OMT who actually remembers..he has kind of watched me grow up though my teenage years and i am truly happy for him and his family of 4..really touched that he remembers..

Thursday, January 12, 2006

this is the supersupersuper good view from the 21st storey of UOB plaza...there i only 1 thing to say. WOW!! and its really much better if you see it with your own eyes!!! though the view from the conference room is great (i get to work there for 2 days!) i cant say the same for the people working there...lets not talk about disgusting people...anyway, more about the view..i think its an interesting view of singapore..as it encompasses what we are all about. The new and the old, all combined..boat quay, symbolic of the hardships of our forefathers who laboured at the docks, also signifying how we became a successful country through entreport trade, and the benefits of a natural harbour..in addiiton, there is also the view of the CBD area and the esplanade..and not forgetting, the Singapore river..

this is a more arty version...which i prefer, coz it hides the fact that i suck at collage and anything arty...
Sunday, January 08, 2006

taken on boxing day after a session of tennis and gym..this is what is left of the chocolate log cake..thanks to julia for doing the collage. i just stole it without her permission..hahaha!!! i dun care!!! i helped you MAKE the SHITTY mess..yes, dun u guys think it looks like shit? haha!

the FIRST photo i took in the year 2006 and its TOTALLY FREE!! unfortunately, i dun get to keep the original..but still!!! somehow i very "loo-gie" coz i took up the least space in the pic...hmmm..and why they only told me i have messy hair AFTER the pic? my curry-pok is collapsing le...haha..but still, its with my beloved platoon-mates-cum-tennis gang..hey girls, our first pic in the new year, hope it signifies that we will remain close ties throughtout the year..
its been raining for the entire day...and before this, on and off rain..is the world really coming to an end?
